Today, the student is taught both the self-defense and the sport of TaeKwonDo. The study of TaeKwonDo leads to confidence, self-control, and a respect for others. The student learns how to focus their attention and direct their energy into a useful and fun activity. It will help improve their physical self (flexibility, agility, and strength) and their mental self (concentration, self-discipline, and self-confidence).
Walker TaeKwonDo Academy has an Evangelistic TaeKwonDo demonstration team. This team ministers throughout the community as a tool in spreading the Gospel. In the process of entertaining and educating our audience with TaeKwonDo, we will witness to the saving grace of Jesus Christ, our one true Master. All students in our TaeKwonDo program are invited to join us in future demonstrations.
Who we Are
Walker Taekwondo Academy has been proudly serving the Lansing community since 2016. The school began with a desire for Walker Bible Baptist Church to reach families with the Gospel, through the many benefits that martial arts has to offer. The school has been tremendously blessed and students have found themselves enriched mentally, physically, and spiritually through their training.
This school is part of the United States Chung Do Kwan Association, which is one of the oldest and most-renowned Taekwondo associations in America and the World. US Chung Do Kwan was started in 1967, by the late Sr. Grand Master Edward B. Sell and his wife Sr. Grand Master Brenda Sell. Sr. Grand Master Brenda Sell currently heads the organization and is the first non-Korean female to be awarded 9th Dan by the Kukkiwon. She also provides mentorship to the instructors at our school.
